64 Bit Excel Odbc Driver

Jul 19, 2011 Im facing a issue when using excel as source in non-microsoft product. Its windows server 2003 sp2 (64 bit) enviroment. Only i need to create a DSN for excel, but i couldn't. Tthere is no excel driver listed in odbc driver list. Do i have to install 64 bit odbc driver for excel?

I’m running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro SP1.

I needed the 64-bit odbc drivers for Access databases and naturally thought that these would be installed if I upgraded from 32-bit Office 2010 to 64-bit Office 2016.

The process of making that upgrade has been a nightmare in its own right. (It has taken me the best part of a week). The Access version installed is 16.0.4266.1003 64-bit. Imagine my despair then to find that, having 64-bit Office 2016 installed, did not result in the 64-bit drivers being installed.

So, just what am I supposed to do to get the 64-bit Access ODBC drivers installed????

Issue:

On a 64-bit Windows operating system running 64-bit AutoCAD Map 3D, or Civil 3D, the following messaging might appear when attempting to establish an ODBC connection:

“An external component has thrown an exception”.
'Failed to Connect”.
“Failed to create the data source file: XXXXX”.
“Test connection failed because of an error”.

Excel 64 Bit Odbc Driver

Causes:

There are two potential causes:

32-bit version of Microsoft Office is installed on the 64-bit system.
Older 64-bit ODBC drivers are installed on the machine.

Solution:

For 32-bit Microsoft Office

Uninstall the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office then install a 64-bit version:

Uninstall Microsoft Office from the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features.
If Microsoft Project Professional is installed, this must also be uninstalled.
Obtain a 64-bit version of Microsoft Office and install that on your system.
